Introduction to Phylogenetic Combinatorics

Abstract for the Combinatorics Seminar 2012 November 13

Phylogenetic Combinatorics is a branch of discrete applied mathematics dealing with how to encode genetic data into combinatorial structures such as graphs. I will discuss some methods of encoding and retrieving phylogenetic data from trees.
