Before 2015, the Zassenhaus Group Theory Conference merged with the Ohio State-Denison Mathematics Conference in even-numbered years, with the group theorists meeting in the odd-numbered years at various locations around the country. The even-numbered year conferences held in Ohio originally included group theory, ring theory, and combinatorics (areas in which Hans Zassenhaus was active).

The Zassenhaus Conference began as the Ohio State-Denison Mathematics Conferences. It was first organized in the 1960's by Hans Zassenhaus, are held in even-numbered years in Ohio, with the group theorists meeting in the odd-numbered years at various locations around the country. The even-numbered year conferences held in Ohio originally included group theory, ring theory, and combinatorics, areas in which Hans Zassenhaus was active.
</p>
<p>
Since 2015 the anchor location for the Zassenhaus Conference has been at Binghamton University, where it is being held on odd-numbered years. The name <em>Zassenhaus Groups and Friends Conference</em> is a reflection of the fact that we welcome topics like <em>Loops</em> and others from universal algebra, which are closely related to group theory.

<p>
The Zassenhaus Conference began as the Ohio State-Denison Mathematics Conferences. It was first organized in the 1960's by Hans Zassenhaus, are held in even-numbered years in Ohio, with the group theorists meeting in the odd-numbered years at various locations around the country. The even-numbered year conferences held in Ohio originally included group theory, ring theory, and combinatorics, areas in which Hans Zassenhaus was active.

<p>
Since 2015 the anchor location for the Zassenhaus Conference has been at Binghamton University, where it is being held on odd-numbered years. The name <em>Zassenhaus Groups and Friends Conference</em> is a reflection of the fact that we welcome topics like <em>Loops</em> and others from universal algebra, which are closely related to group theory.
</p>
<p>
Due to the worldwide health crisis in 2020-2021, the conference will be held online again this year. We expect to return to in-person conference next year, although we may choose to go hybrid.

The series of Ohio State-Denison Mathematics Conferences, first organized in the 1960's by Hans Zassenhaus, are held in even-numbered years in Ohio, with the group theorists meeting in the odd-numbered years at various locations around the country. The even-numbered year conferences held in Ohio originally included group theory, ring theory, and combinatorics (areas in which Hans Zassenhaus was active), but in recent years only group and ring theory have been in attendance.

In the 1960s, Hans Zassenhaus (1912 - 1991) began the Zassenhaus Group Theory Conference series as a place where any mathematician could come and talk about his/her work, meet with colleagues, and talk about math. The conference series has changed names slightly over the years, but the tradition continues – group theorists come together with universal algebraists, loop theorists, combinatorialists, and other researchers each year to talk about mathematics at the Zassenhaus Groups and Friends Conference.

Since 2015 Binghamton University has become the anchor site for the Zassenhaus Conference, by hosting it every two years on odd years. On even years we meet at <a href="https://sites.google.com/a/oswego.edu/zassenhaus/archive" class="urlextern" title="https://sites.google.com/a/oswego.edu/zassenhaus/archive">alternative sites</a>.
Due to the pandemic, in 2020 and 2021 we held the conference in virtual form. In 2022 we held a hybrid conference, with an

online</a> portion and an in-person portion at

<h2> Memorial Day Weekend 2015! </h2>
<p> The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Binghamton University SUNY is pleased to host the 2015 Zassenhaus Group Theory Conference on Memorial Day Weekend, Friday 5/22 - Sunday 5/24. This conference continues the series of Ohio State-Denison Mathematics Conferences first organized in the 1960's by <a href="http://www-history.mcs.st-andrews.ac.uk/Biographies/Zassenhaus.html">Hans Zassenhaus</a>. In addition to established mathematicians, the organizers would like to invite graduate students and young group theorists to consider attending. All speakers will be given equal time, typically 20 minutes. </p>

The Binghamton Mets have a home game against the Akron RubberDucks at 7:05 pm on Friday May 22 -- complete with fireworks to close out the evening. If interested, please contact her by Monday May 11 to secure tickets in your name. The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Binghamton University is pleased to host the 2015 Zassenhaus Group Theory Conference on the Memorial Day weekend, Friday May 22 to Sunday May 24, 2015. This conference continues the series of Ohio State-Denison Mathematics Conferences first organized in the 1960's by <a href="http://www-history.mcs.st-andrews.ac.uk/Biographies/Zassenhaus.html" class="urlextern" title="http://www-history.mcs.st-andrews.ac.uk/Biographies/Zassenhaus.html">Hans Zassenhaus</a>.
