Interesting examples of hyperbolic groups can appear as fundamental groups of piece-wise Euclidean cube complexes that satisfy certain combinatorial conditions. I will try to illustrate one such example, and how Combinatorial Morse theory can be used to construct non-hyperbolic finitely presented subgroups of such hyperbolic groups.
